Your ingredients
Scaled for 8
4 cups flour 2 cup sugar 1 cup butter 6 eggs 2 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp salt

Tip: put one ingredient per line, starting with the amount (like "1 1/2 cups flour"). Lines without an amount are left unchanged.

How to scale a recipe

Scaling is simple: divide the servings you want by the servings the recipe makes to get your factor, then multiply every ingredient by it. Going from 4 servings to 8 is a factor of 2, so you double everything. Going from 4 to 6 is a factor of 1.5. The tool above does this for you and rounds to friendly amounts like 1 1/2 cups.

A couple of things to watch: seasoning does not always scale in a straight line, so taste as you go, and a bigger batch does not always mean a longer cook time. Judge baking by doneness, not the clock.
