Mealime Is Shutting Down: How to Keep Your Recipes
Mealime has announced that the app will be discontinued on October 21, 2026. Its closing page says all personal data will be deleted when the app shuts down, and Pro features are free for everyone until then. The team is moving to Meals Hub, which lives inside the Albertsons family of grocery apps (Safeway, Albertsons, Vons, Jewel-Osco and others).
If you shop at one of those stores, Meals Hub may be all you need. If you don't, or you simply want to keep the recipes you cook every week, here is how to save them before the deadline.
What you lose on October 21
- Your account and personal data. Mealime says they are deleted at shutdown.
- Your saved plans and grocery lists. Mealime's closing page does not offer an export.
- Recipes you typed in yourself. These live in your account, so they go with it.
Mealime's own recipe pages on mealime.com are public, and Mealime says the recipe catalogue continues in Meals Hub. But the list of recipes you picked, and anything you wrote yourself, is yours to save now.
How to save your Mealime recipes with Gratly
Gratly is a recipe saver: it turns a recipe page into a clean recipe (ingredients, steps, times and servings) and keeps it in your own account.
- Open the recipe on mealime.com in Chrome. Mealime's recipe pages include proper recipe data, so Gratly reads them directly.
- Click the Gratly extension and save. Saving a recipe from a website is free and does not use any AI credits.
- For recipes you wrote yourself, open each one in Mealime, copy the ingredients and steps, and add it in Gratly with "Write it yourself". Or paste the text and let Gratly sort it into ingredients and steps (that uses AI credits; the free plan includes enough for a couple of these a month).
Do your favourites first. The free plan holds up to 10 recipes, which covers most people's weekly rotation. If you have more, Plus removes the limit.

Where Mealime was better
Mealime picked recipes for you. You set your diet once, tapped a few dishes, and the plan and grocery list built themselves from a library written for that purpose. Gratly does not have its own recipe library. You bring the recipes, from any site you like, and Gratly keeps them clean and cookable. If "tell me what to cook" was the main reason you used Mealime, Meals Hub or another meal-kit style planner may suit you better.
Where Gratly fits
If you mostly cooked the same favourites, collected recipes from other sites, or want your recipes to stay yours, Gratly is a good home:
- Save from anywhere: Mealime pages, food blogs, big recipe sites, even TikTok, Instagram and YouTube links.
- Cook without the scroll: one step at a time, timers from the steps, screen stays on.
- Plan and shop: drop recipes into breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack slots, then get one shopping list for the week (Plus).
- Cook together: the Family plan shares recipes, plans and lists with up to 6 people.
- One account: the same recipes in the browser extension and on gratly.app, on any device you sign in on.
Your checklist before October 21
- Make a list of the Mealime recipes you actually cook.
- Save each one with Gratly from its mealime.com page.
- Copy out any recipes you wrote yourself.
- Note your diet settings and any recipe tweaks in each recipe's notes.
- Mealime says Pro subscribers won't be charged again before the shutdown. If you want to be sure, check the subscriptions page in your phone's app store.
FAQ
When does Mealime shut down? Mealime says the app will be discontinued on October 21, 2026, and that personal data will be deleted at that point.
Can I export my Mealime data? Mealime's closing page does not mention an export. The safest route is to save the recipes you want now, one by one, from their recipe pages.
Is Gratly free? Yes. The free plan saves up to 10 recipes from any website, with cook mode, timers, scaling, this week's meal plan and shopping lists. Plus adds unlimited recipes, planning further ahead and one merged list for the week.
Does Gratly have its own recipes like Mealime did? No. Gratly saves recipes from the sites you already use and the ones you write yourself. It does not come with a built-in recipe catalogue.
Is there a Gratly phone app? The Android app is coming soon. Until then, gratly.app works in your phone's browser with the same account.
